St.
Norbert College, a nationally-ranked, private, Catholic, liberal arts college is seeking an Assistant Coach of Men's & Women's Swimming & Diving.
This position is charged with assisting the Head Coach, as outlined below, and with fulfilling the duties and responsibilities of the Head Coach in their absence.
The coach is expected to follow all NCAA, Conference and College policies.
Assistant Coaching responsibilities: Assists with instructing, teaching and coaching student-athletes during practice and competition.
- 25% Recruits qualified student-athletes to participate in the program.
Recruiting is by electronic, telephonic and in-person (travel) means.
- 25% Provides event management at home athletic contests as SNC athletic administrator.
- 10% Provides assistance with the selection, purchase, fitting and maintenance of team equipment, to include uniforms, athletic equipment and supplies.
- 5% Plans practice and competition strategy in partnership with the head coach.
- 5% Aquatic Center/Other Responsibilities: Develops strategies for external usage of the aquatic center.
- 20% Serves as assistant aquatics director with duties assigned by the head swimming & diving coach / aquatics director.
- 5% Manages SNC Camps, clinics, and fundraisers for the swim program in the aquatics center.
- 5% Supervision Exercised Over: 10-15 student workers.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Education - Bachelor’s degree required Experience and Credentials - Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse campus environment or commitment to do so as an employee of St.
Norbert College.
Must be/have the ability to obtain American Red Cross Lifeguarding, First Aid and CPR/AED certified prior to start date.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Strong ability to recruit student athletes in the context of NCAA Division III philosophy.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
Ability to interact professionally with coworkers and customers, particularly in conflict situations.
Ability to interact politely and resolve customer service issues.
Ability to multitask, meet specific deadlines, and prioritize tasks and assignments.
Skilled in basic math computations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Knowledge of computer programs (Microsoft Office, Google Apps, Workday) and ability to learn upgrades and new programs as needed.
Ability to exercise good judgment and decisions in an expeditious manner.
Skilled at setting a good example for others.
Skilled at organizing events, programs, projects and seeing them through to completion.
Skilled at making presentations to large (>100) groups of people.
Ability to concentrate and focus in a noisy environment.
The College may consider any equivalent amount of credentials, licensures, training, or experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties and responsibilities of this job.
Working Conditions: Work is primarily performed at competition/practice venues, classroom or office settings.
Weekends, early mornings and evenings are generally required.
This position is expected to travel.
This position is expected to work on campus on a regular basis and is eligible to participate in a Hybrid Work and Flexible Schedules.
Approval of Flexible Work Arrangements are at the discretion of the department supervisor to ensure that the needs of the department and college are met.
