St.
Norbert College, a nationally-ranked, private, Catholic, liberal arts college is seeking an Assistant Coach of Men’s & Women’s Volleyball.
This position is charged with assisting the Head Coach, as outlined below, and with fulfilling the duties and responsibilities of the Head Coach in their absence.
The coach is expected to follow all NCAA, Conference and College policies.
Specific responsibilities: Assists with instructing, teaching and coaching student-athletes during practice and competition.
- 30% Recruits qualified student-athletes to participate in the volleyball program.
Recruiting is conducted by electronic, telephonic, and in-person (travel) means.
- 35% Plans practice and competition strategy in partnership with the head coach.
- 15% Manages concessions at select athletic events; assist the program with developing fundraising strategies.
- 10% Provides event management at home athletic contests as SNC athletic administrator.
- 10% Performs additional duties as assigned and attends College required training.
Regular attendance is required.
Works in a manner that is aware of personal safety and the safety of others and observes safety, health and sanitation codes, regulations, or practices required by the College or governmental authority.
Supervision Exercised Over: 1-4 student workers.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Education - Bachelor’s degree required Experience and Credentials - Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse campus environment or commitment to do so as an employee of St.
Norbert College.
Previous coaching experience at the collegiate or high school varsity level preferred.
Collegiate (NCAA, NCVF, NAIA) playing experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Strong ability to recruit student athletes in the context of NCAA Division III philosophy.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
Ability to interact professionally and politely with coworkers and customers, particularly in conflict situations.
Ability to multitask, meet specific deadlines, and prioritize tasks and assignments.
Skilled in basic math computations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Knowledge of computer programs (Microsoft Office, Google Apps, Workday) and ability to learn upgrades and new programs as needed.
Ability to exercise good judgment and decisions in an expeditious manner.
Skilled at setting a good example for others.
Skilled at organizing events, programs, projects and seeing them through to completion.
Skilled at making presentations to small (<25) people.
Ability to concentrate and focus in a noisy environment.
The College may consider any equivalent amount of credentials, licensures, training, or experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties and responsibilities of this job.
Working Conditions: Work is primarily performed at competition/practice venues both on and off campus as well as classroom or office settings.
Weekends, early mornings, and evenings will often be required.
Travel is an expectation of this position.
Hire is expected to work primarily on campus.
The position will be eligible to participate in a hybrid/flexible work schedule when approved at the discretion of the department supervisor to ensure that the needs of the department and college are met.
