Overview
For almost 40 years, Paragon Community Services has been providing day services for adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
During that time our goal has remained steadfast—to promote the highest level of independence while improving the lives of the people we serve.
Paragon has recently added a prevocational skills program and employment services to help individuals move to the goal of competitive integrated employment.
We are currently seeking a Prevocational Skills Instructor to join our team!
The Prevocational Skills Instructor is responsible for assisting with the vocational, community, and educational skills development and activities for persons with varied disabilities within a structured day prevocational program.
Responsibilities include (not limited to):
Follows pre-determined curriculum to deliver instruction to participants
Develops and leads activities to facilitate learning to help participants reach goals and desired outcomes
Maintains structure of program both on site in a classroom setting and in various community settings
Develops goals to match individual participant’s needs in the vocational, community, and educational areas
Acts as an advocate for participants in the community to remove attitudinal and other barriers facing people with disabilities.
Writes reports and case notes based on daily activities and progress within program on each individual participant
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent required
3 years of experience working with individuals with an intellectual or developmental disability (IDD) preferred
Valid Driver’s License with 3 years of a clean driving record
Remains calm under pressure, exercises patience, and maintains self-composure/self-control in times of high stress
Effective working alone and as a member of a team; willing to travel to other locations as needed
