Job Overview
The Technical Writer researches, writes, and edits technical information for documents such as operation manuals, service technician manuals, and parts catalogues.
They collaborate with engineers, field personnel, trainers, and more to ensure quality information for customers.
They ensure that content is accurate, complete, and meets quality and style standards.
Supports establishing writing standards and style guidelines.
Supports researching innovative new solutions to legacy methods of writing to improve the customer experience.
Key Job Responsibilities
Create, revise, and update Parts Manuals
Using Bills of Materials and engineering changes.
Create Bills of Materials by working with shop personnel to gather relevant information.
Create assembly details for visual content.
Create, revise, and update content for Service and Operation and Maintenance Manuals.
Study drawings, schematics, and machines to build visuals for content.
Create content by working with shop personnel to gather relevant information.
Proactively work with subject matter experts to discover and translate relevant information into readable content.
Learn the Construction and Forestry products, and determine the subject matters needed for technical content.
Qualifications/Requirements
BA/BS in related field, or equivalent work experience in documentation.
Ideal candidates to have a technical background and are familiar with hydraulic and electrical systems.
Ability to research and quickly understand new machine technologies.
Excellent writing skills, ability to manage multiple assignments, and work independently and with other technical writers.
Tech savvy aptitude.
Quickly learn new software used at Komatsu for documentation.
Microsoft Office proficiency, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat etc.
