This aid may take the form of intervention, consultation, or often through direct dollar or in-kind service.
We are currently accepting applications for an *Assistant Store Manager at our Dig & Save Outlet*.
The Assistant Manager works closely with the Store Manager and other team members in operating a profitable and service-minded store in alignment with the mission of the Society of St.
Vincent De Paul.
This position is a physical position that oversees employees to ensure exceptional customer service, a stocked and visually appealing store and the timely and quality processing of donated merchandise.
This position will spend approximately 35% of time supervising and training employees and volunteers and interacting directly with customers in store; 50% of time in merchandising, stocking and processing items; and 15% of time in office compiling various reports, scheduling employees, processing timesheets and other type of paperwork.
This position is for our *Green Bay Dig & Save Outlet location*.
The schedule will be discussed based on the needs of the stores and weekends are included with a rotating schedule and opening and closing a store would be a great possibility.
Reliable transportation is a MUST and consistent, excellent attendance is critical.
*Essential Functions:* · Provide leadership as acting Manager in the absence of the Store Manager · Assign daily tasks to paid and volunteer staff to carry out the operational directives given by the Store Manager based on store and production needs and goals · Attend to customer complaints and personnel concerns and makes the Store Manager aware of resolution · Ensure that the processing of donated merchandise is completed to SVdP standards and reaches sales floor in a timely manner · Utilize sound systems and routine to count money and reconcile store receipts · Utilize sound systems and routines to maximize payroll and human resources efficiency · Communicate any employee issues and disciplinary concerns with Store Manager · Maintain a visually enticing store that is neat, clean, organized and adequately stocked · Coach, train and hold team accountable to St.
Vincent de Paul standards · Prepare inventory/sales reports by analyzing and categorizing sales information · Assist in the recruitment, hiring and training of store staff when requested · Assist in the skill development of current personnel that leads to advancement, efficiency and retention of employees · Participate in store staff meetings and SVdP store leadership meetings · Ensure that health, safety, and security rules are followed, reporting & documenting any incidents or accidents timely Ability and willingness to be flexible in travel to other Green Bay store locations when requested and needed but is a seldom occurrence *Supervisory responsibilities:* The Assistant Store Manager provides direct supervision to Store Team Leads and hourly store employees and volunteers.
Ability to make independent decisions *Education and/or Experience Requirements*: · Post high school education preferred or an equivalent of 2-4 years’ experience sufficient to successfully perform essential functions of the position Leadership courses are a plus *Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:* · Knowledge of thrift store operations, POS and product value · Forklift experience is required · Knowledge of, or ability to learn, SVdP policies and procedures · Knowledge of principles or processes for providing effective customer service · Skill in use of standard office equipment as copiers, phone systems · Skill in using computer applications including spreadsheet, database, and word processing software, specifically Microsoft 365 and Outlook · Skill in effective personnel management, including receiving and providing feedback, and developing and motivating employees · Skill in communicating effectively in English, in both written and verbal forms · Skill in managing one’s own time to meet deadlines · Skill in creating attractive visual displays and welcoming store layouts · Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide for retail sales transactions · Ability to identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and implement effective solutions · Ability to plan, assign and supervise the work of others · Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure · Ability to work a flexible schedule with changing priorities · Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion · Physical condition adequate to permit full performance of duties *This position is very physical and hands on* which requires standing/walking continuously, sitting occasionally, lifting up to 50 lbs frequently, pushing and pulling carts/racks/dollies/tables, moving furniture and help customers load furniture, bending over, reaching overhead, grasping items frequently, forklift use and requires normal range of hearing and normal /close vision and ability to distinguish colors.
