The Accountant at the Greater Green Bay YMCA maintains a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals and performs accounting functions such as journal entries, account reconciliation, and financial reporting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Performs monthly bank reconciliations, reviews and prepares journal entries and maintains recurring journal entries.
Posts daily activity from operational systems to the general ledger.
Records and reconciles payroll transactions.
Supports Accounts Payable and others as a back up to their daily functions.
Serves as liaison for the day-to-day banking activities.
Assists VP of Finance with month end and year-end closings, including preparing audit work papers.
Performs and assists in a variety of accounting, financial analysis, and budget projects.
Works with department personnel to understand accounting processes and procedures.
Addresses challenges with possible solutions in a timely manner.
Performs all internal and external interactions with a high level of customer service.

QUALIFICATIONS
2 year degree in accounting with 5 years related experience OR 4 year degree in accounting with 1-2 years of experience.
Knowledge of general ledger and accounting functions, including GAAP and internal controls.
Comfortable with computerized accounting systems.
Prior experience with non-profit accounting a plus.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel, Word and Outlook required.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Must be highly organized and have the ability to work with confidential matters.
